Shiftwork can lead to sleep deprivation/irregular sleep cycles, improper eating times, consistently elevated stress levels, and can impact your life negatively in many other ways. The undesirable effects of shiftwork can lead to a decline in your overall health.
Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel, nurses, and many other shift workers will likely experience negative health effects associated with the dynamics of these professions.
Weight gain/difficulty losing weight, chronic fatigue, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, a weakened immune system, increased risk of cancers, impaired cognitive function, hormone imbalances, and chronic fatigue are just some of the negative health effects that frontline workers face.
Exercise and good nutrition are a must, but they are often generalized. The health and wellness of a frontline worker demands more.
